Two sigma vs Google

College student. Have the option to work at Google or Two Sigma (plus a few more) for my final internship before grad. I previously interned at Google and enjoyed my team immensely. Enough so that I would like to continue working with them after graduation. General wisdom is to go for Two Sigma, (higher pay, fintech, already interned at Google and other big four, cool project). However I am hesitant on taking these reasons at face value. Any thoughts or tips for how to decide

Give numbers or else nobody can help you.

It's internship. Numbers aren't that important. Anyways 10k plus housing vs 6.7k plus ~7k housing stipend.

If you've already interned at Google don't go back to the same team, no matter how much you've loved it. You can always go back to that team full time. Go try something new. Teams also change all the time and you may not return to the same team - i.e. the people or dynamics change. Speaking from personal experience

Did not consider this. Thank you for explaining why conditions may change

For an internship try a different company to get different perspective

Facebook batman420 Dec 26, 2016

Highly recommend different company. It will give you more options to figure out where you want to join full time Don't fall in love with one company, especially if you're not even full time yet

Not in love with company. Google has a lot of things annoying about it. It's moreso my team

Intern at Two Sigma and then report to us how their working conditions are. Many of us aren't going there because we've heard work conditions are terrible, like 24x7 oncall. You'll also learn more about fintech in the process so it's a win win.

On that note, nobody from Two Sigma on Blind?

Google Taco boy Dec 26, 2016

Lol. That's one of my apprehension for working there. Guess an internship is a good way to experiment

Since it's your final internship, pick the one you want to work full time -- it's relatively easy to convert an internship into full time offer

just as a side note, strong returning interns may be eligible to be hired as FTE at Google without requiring additional interviews.

Google Taco boy Dec 26, 2016

Yeah. I was strong based off of perf. However you need to do two internships for that to take hold

Facebook E10 Jan 2, 2017

Why does Google do additional interviews for interns anyways. Sounds nonsensical.

I know someone that works at Two Sigma and really likes it. Goes in to work for 9:30 or so and I see him coming home at like 6. It's finance in NY so longer hours are standard. But ive never heard anything bad about it. In terms of hedge funds they are generally considered a top tier place to work. Also I interviews there (although not as a SE).
