I have two offers, one is from UBS and another is from Fidelity. UBS is more technical role (Data Scientist) while Fidelity is mix (Data analysis plus project management). I am on H1b. I also need to file PERM/ I140 in next one year. I heard UBS will have layoffs due to CS merger and i also feel they may not able to file my PERM/ Green Card. UBS: 127 base plus bonus (5%) Fidelity: 110 base plus bonus (20%) Which is better company/ role and why? Also how difficult/ easy to change roles within Fidelity? I want to move to technical roles eventually. #H1b #PERM #UBS#fidelity#offer
I imagine most of UBS layoffs will be of CS staff
Ubs culture is a big red flag. Not worth the extra $ in base pay. Can't speak for fidelity, I've not worked there
Fidelity culture is typical big corporate and all depends in the team. Lots of people coasting, lots of bureacracy, nothing super innovative.
How difficult or easy is to change the teams? I am looking for more of work life balance, we also have a one year old kid.
It’s pretty easy to change teams, network. Typically have to spend 1yr in first role, but some leaders will waive that.
Fido builds their comp for loyalty. It’s a very stable, private company. Sounds like a good fit for you.
Do not recommended UBS. Agile whatever is gonna get the axe under new CEO, cost cutting and culture shift and layoffs. A bad time to join.
Agree with what others have said for Fido. Internal mobility to different roles is highly encouraged and easy to do after some time in current role. Also it’s a super stable job to be at and is a great WLB
Thanks. It helps
UBS just announced 30% layoffs. They added dead weight CS to their responsibility. Answer is easy.
Kinda low offers for 5 YOE. Asset managers do not pay well. UBS certainly sponsors for green card after 1 year but you can negotiate it to get it sooner.
All I can add is that Fidelity has more job stability and isnt planning on layoffs.
