I want to transition into PM jobs that require UI/UX skills. I already have a background in design so I think this shouldn’t be too difficult. Has anyone tried any bootcamps or online certifications? Out of all the ones I have looked at so far, I found UC Berkeley’s Professional Program in UX Design the most promising. Edit: I am on visa so the option of getting a professional degree or freelancing is out. TC: 180k YOE:2
Why UX program if you want to be a PM?
Not sure how it works with Meta but not many teams at MS work 1:1 with a UX designer. Most of the work is done by PMs and such teams specifically ask for UX experience. I am also thinking of pivoting to a UX designer couple of years down on the lane. UX designers don’t make as much as PMs so I still want to make $$$ doing what I love right now.
The best way is to shadow the UX designer and learn the basic tricks and tools & framework. Then watch tutorial about that tool and then prototype for your next project and get feedback from the UX person. This is how I groomed my UX skills as a PM.
