Planning for a trip to India from SFO and I see flight prices are about $900 with air India, very flexible timings and Emirates qatar ethihad are about $1400. How is air India after tata take over. For a family it's about $2000 less to travel is it worth going by air India.
No, its ok if and only if you prefer direct flights
Let’s just say it’s cheap for a reason…
If you are traveling to Delhi, then air India flight sucks. No entertainment, ok food, bad service, etc. it was a very bad experience with Air India. If you want to enjoy your journey explore other flights too.
Air India still running old planes and it will take some time to replace their planes. If you are fine with old planes then you are good. Also their customer support has improved a lot.
You get what you pay for 🤷♀️
Well, in economy class you don’t get anything even if you pay more. So why not optimize to save more?
I work with a lot of folks who are Indian and pro-India everything. The types of folks that would comment on blind and say how India will be the greatest power in 30 years. How the culture, the food, the people, are better than anywhere. Even they badmouth Air India.
True lol
Take your own tablets, for entertainment etc, and toilet papers/ Clorox wipes/ wet wipes. Usually the entertainment system doesn't work. Price wise air India is ok and the direct flights save a lot of time. Sometimes the toilets get dirty during the course of the flight.
Haven’t traveled on Air India myself, but several friends - reliable and service-level-picky folks, have and say the SFO-Mumbai route have the newer leased aircraft and are travel-worthy! I’m tempted to fly them next time!
Took the air india flight from sfo->Bom and can’t say enough nice things. New planes, great service. I was skeptical at first but after the tata takeover they have really turned things around. Can’t speak for other routes but the direct flight was really a game changer. Especially with a kid.
Why do you care, just sit and come.
