https://www.levels.fyi/companies/ups/salaries/software-engineer/levels/l6 I know we’ve all heard the news but…how is UPS going to explain this to their software engineers??
It's a general trend. It's harder to find workers for blue collar jobs in developed countries. So salaries are going up. Some truckers earn more than software engineers as well.
Driver’s 170k is based on 65+ hours a week not 40.
Ah, didn’t know this part
Also includes benefits. Add 50k to SWE for the benefits
Hourly pay for swe at ups is likely much higher
That’s their all in pay which includes benefits. They are not making that in their paycheck.
Why is that an issue? Why do software engineers automatically deserve more pay? Yes, many have a college degree but really the only requirement to be a software engineer is a 3 month bootcamp, no?
Software engineers with a superiority complex that they “bring more value” probably. It’s pretty gross. I’d like to see these SWE take a driver job if it’s so easy
I mean…I’m pretty sure I could drive a truck and move boxes from the truck to a house. Would like to see a UPS driver learn redux
Good. Nature is healing
I'm guessing UPS might be a lot more selective about their long haul drivers than their engineers.
I think an average person can more easily learn programming than learning to drive a truck safely.
Drivers work hard, backbreaking days. Arrogant elites can't deal with the fact there is a value shift underway.
