Anyone know where the USA is going to get relatively smart people to work in manufacturing chips. It’s not like some BS food packaging operator anyone can do and they lose an item or drop an item it’s whatever. These are super expensive hardware they are making that requires careful care. Automation will only take us so far. The bunny suits and haacp rules and protocols will be super annoying. Plus the salary won’t be great espc for soul crushing repetitive work. Anyone smart to work in a semi conductor facility is probably going to at least get a from a CC degree or a trade rather than working a hyper repetitive job in manufacturing. Labor costs are much more expensive here than in China. And the labor market is stronger for workers with many options. Do you guys think the USA will import Taiwanese workers on a visa and it will turn into the transcontinental railroad agreement or something. I’m sure Taiwanese people would be competing for citizenship in the US in exchange for working a hyper job with a USA minimum wage and a possible better future for their children. #Manufacturing #semiconductor #operations #hrissues #hardware
The US has corn fed mouth breathers assembling automotobiles left and right. Not just American brands, Toyota, BMW, Subaru, Honda etc the only plants that beat them in terms of efficiency are the actual Toyota plants in japan. Yes they'll import some Taiwanese just like they imported Puerto Rican nurses but eventually it will even out.
Yeah in exchange for citizenship.
Same as how Intel hires for their fabs in Oregon, Arizona, New Mexico - high skilled immigrants
India
Probably taiwan given their name is tsmc
They will be rewarded with permanent residency and citizenship
Yeah that’s what I would think

Grow up. Smart people anywhere are NOT desperate enough to work in US with a 'US minimum wage' like you mentioned. For example, Do you think Indians working in US in FAANGs are settling for anything less? No smart people in the world are going to leave their good paying jobs in their home countries to work in US at 'minimum wages' just for US citizenship, they already are earning a lot more than that in their home country than US minimum wages (even if you convert USD directly to local currency without considering cost of living)
I could see them leaving for a better future for their children. Even if it meant working a bs job in exchange for citizenship
