My partner got an offer from Meta in August last year with Joining in March. Since then it took a few months to process the petition for E3 (Australian equivalent of H1B). After that it has been a few months we are trying to get a visa appointment at different US consulates in Australia. Even with approved expedited appointment our next appointment is in June this year. From what we are seeing worldwide there are extreme visa delays in most places and we are not the only ones in this. My question is - if you are in this situation, how you and your company are dealing with these type of delays? What are our options? Are companies delaying joining date due to this unforeseen situations? TC - 435k YoE - 9 PS - I am posting on their behalf as they are not on Blind.
You have to snipe visa cancellations for appointments.
I don’t think any fortune 500 org will wait that long on someone to come to Us so they prefer hiring within US
Hey Op! I believe getting an E3 in aus is really hard at the moment but it is much easier if you go overseas. You can get appointments in Europe within a week or 2 (London, Paris, Madrid). I know it's a bit of a trek but will save you loads of time. I would recommend the info sessions that Amy Meyer from Aussie recruits do every month. They are packed with Intel on how to best get your E3 and where. Look her up and all the best!

There is a huge backlog in US visa interviewing right now. In some countries, the wait time for a simple visitor visa interview is “999 days”, which means that the wait is so long that the State Department’s own systems can’t even track the wait. No idea how US companies are handling these huge delays.
