Obsession with moving started after I visited bay area a few times and lived in quite a few countries for work. Currently getting international transfer approved is quite a challenge as Google is massively betting on offshoring. Even then Google won't start PERM anytime soon. Also have an opportunity lined up at Meta, but it seems PERM there isn't done well and current success looks like a bubble about to burst in layoffs. I'm not sure if I should just wait it out or look for some alternative companies/ways of relocation. What would you do? L4, 4YOE
Work on my reducing my obsession. Home is where you belong my friend.
If L visa is not an option (easiest way to move) immigrate to Canada first under skilled worker program.
You mean go to Canada to later go to USA on TN visa in 5 years or so? I was thinking about this. Based on my research Canada is worse than Europe, where I currently live. So far I'm betting on L visa one day. Only that Google is going downhill prevents me from getting it now. Maybe things will reverse one day.
Europe is better for me (maybe we speak same language?) visually. But salaries/taxes in Europe in tech are crap. Canadian tech pays very similar to US, but in $CAD. It does not matter since the prices are similar but in $CAD too. Speaking from experience, I’m in US now, but Canada is a great place overall. Less polarized people. Free healthcare. More educated and well travelled folks. Just don’t look at Toronto and Vancouver, look at common sense cities like Calgary where you can have a high paid job and low cost real estate, at the same time being an hour from world class recreation. TN status is an option, but it’s almost a dead end for GC, hard to convert. L visa from Canada is a great option and easier to obtain. I also had a dream of Bay Area and had offers, but I would never move there now for various reasons.
Obsession is unhealthy, US is trash compared to Eastern Europe
Bro, in my life situation US is really the best option...
US has more growth opportunities. I would personally want to live in Europe (Western) because that's culturally more appealing but opportunities there are much more limited. Smaller companies are typically more willing to sponsor; however, if you already have a process with Google, I would just stick around.
Resist another couple of years in Warsaw and then move (back) to India. India is the new US
India is not bad option actually
Move as a manager, L1A and skip the line; Find another company that would sponsor you; If eligible, try the green card lottery every year; Consider other opportunities, such as an investor visa, talk to an immigration expert; Dont give up your dream. It may take time.
Look for other companies.
Do you have some examples? Thanks!
