UX Hourly Rate
Hey folks, I’m a consultant/contractor and I want to renegotiate my contract. How much is the decent hourly for UX (designer and researcher here) for Oil & Gas. Because I have a feeling I got lowballed initially. (any tips on how to re-negotiate?) 1 yr in Oil & Gas, and got an award last year for exceptional performance (if that even matters). Experience: 6YOE in mobile app development, 5yrs of those in lead/mgmt role, 4 of those in UX. #tc
8 yoe design/development. My rate is $135/hr. $100 is completely defensible, and will attract a client base who want a premium service, but at a swallowable rate.
Where are you located, if you don’t mind?
$200/hr seems like a standard rate for a good engineer in the Bay Area. Should be similar for designers?
Currently in Texas so I’m pretty sure SF would pay a lot more :(
At least $75/hr.
