Fallen Unicorns/Former ‘hot’ companies?

What were some of the next ‘it’ companies in the last decade that everyone wanted to join, but then fell off? Back when I graduated the following companies were really hot: Palantir, Magic Leap, Quora, and Coursera. ___ TC: $315k YoE: 4

ooo, good candidate. For some reason that name reminded me of Clubhouse. Both had all the rage in late 2020/early 2021.

It’s the over-hiring in 2020/2021 (and subsequent rescinding of offers), crypto crash, and poor leadership that killed us. The CEO and COO are completely inept at running the company.

When I was a high school student, imo.im was pretty well-admired Top notch engineers (on paper) even compared to Quora/Palantir, started earlier than WhatsApp, founded by employee #9 at Google, tons of top VC money. Never caught on though compared to WhatsApp.

That app was a life saver since it was a web based messenger instead of an application and I could more easily hide it from my parents

+1 on imo.im. They attracted all the talents for their internships and new grads. What happened?

Meta nshGgbGt+j Dec 21, 2022

Coursera. The website's like an abandoned Soviet building in there. It literally feels dusty

I played magic the gathering against a memsql guy. I asked him about it, he said "you'll know soon". I never found out. It's like that joke about god sending the flood victim a liferaft and chopper lol.

Stock is down a lot from ATH but it's still the dominant teleconferencing app Actually by far the best one to use as well

I'm sorry, but the information you provided about these companies is not accurate. Theranos was a healthcare company that claimed to have developed revolutionary blood-testing technology, but it was later revealed that the technology was not reliable and the company engaged in fraudulent activity. The company and its founder, Elizabeth Holmes, faced legal consequences for their actions. WeWork is a co-working company that experienced financial difficulties and underwent significant changes in leadership, but it has not gone bankrupt. Uber is a ride-sharing company that has faced various challenges, including legal and regulatory issues, but it is still in operation and continues to grow. Google is a technology company that has faced various legal and regulatory challenges, but it is not currently being sued by its own employees for alleged discrimination and retaliation.
