Uber Eats fees are out of control

Seriously?! $25 in taxes and fees *before* tip on a $55.05 order from a restaurant just 1.9mi away… And this is with Uber One btw. Subtotal: $55.05 Delivery fee: $3.49 Delivery fee discount: -$3.49 Service Fee: $18.17 Local Operating Fee: $5.00 This fee helps offset the increased cost of regulations imposed on third-party delivery apps. Membership Benefit (10% off with Uber One): -$5.51 Bag Fee: $0.08 Taxes: $8.25 Total: $81.04 Are you out of your mind? WTF is Uber One good for if you moved all your fat fees from “delivery” into a ton of other fees. I’m done with Uber. Same order on Door Dash comes to $63 in case you’re curious.

Go walk and pick it up porky

Google GehHr23 OP Feb 16

I have car, several actually so I didn’t have to walk. Also, at 16% body fat - hardly a porky by any standards.

Western Digital empl0yeet Feb 16

Never met a non-porky who used Uber eats

Datadog siemdog Feb 16

Next time they'll add a fee fee: A fee to calculate the sum of all fees.

Don’t give them ideas

In India, some delivery apps charge Platform fee literally. They are earning through the platform and we should pay for it

Airbnb AirToMoon Feb 16

They all have losses so far so not really earning. Plus their fees doesn’t even compare to Uber eats

Uber dr1ver Feb 17

They are in losses because they want to increase their revenue by expanding to newer cities where the service is not launched. They are already profitable where they charge platform fees. The focus is on revenue because that drives valuation of the company and makes investors happy.

Who do you think pays for all the compute and storage required to process your orders?

Smartsheet qjtyu Feb 16

This is how they’re finally showing profits in the results.

Google badaboom$ Feb 16

Call the restaurant to order. These platforms also take a 40% cut from the restaurants money

Airbnb AirToMoon Feb 16

Not 40, more like 15 to 20

Amazon big-banana Feb 16

It’s getting insane. some parents have to keep working and still feed their kids and that might mean an Uber delivery. It sucks.

DoorDash Runner 🏃‍♂️ Feb 16

These minimum pay ordinances are detrimental for consumers, delivery drivers and marketplaces. No one really benefit from them. That’s why your food delivery is expensive, it’s a luxury service. If you don’t like it, cook at home or go pick up.

Google badaboom$ Feb 16

Minimum pay? Seriously? Your earnings report states door dash made a net loss of 565 million on a revenue of 8635 millions in 2023. But they paid stock compensation of 1088 million. Thats 12.6% of revenue. Wow

Uber stierln ct Feb 17

They bought back 1.3b in 2023 so it’s reasonable

Microsoft 2024. Feb 16

"just 1.9 mile away" Then go get it???? I don't understand how people can constantly complain about delivery services yet still use them everyday.

Google GehHr23 OP Feb 16

I just think it’s funny how the fees for a food delivery which is supposed to be free with the membership is 2x what I would pay for a ride to that location. But hey that’s just me.

Microsoft 2024. Feb 16

Yes then stop using it???? If I feel like I'm getting ripped off by a business, I go elsewhere ??? Bad deals are everywhere. Why is this different for deliveries? (American laziness of course 🙃)
