Hey guys Just received an offer for L4. Apart from base and annual bonus there is a New Hire Grant. Along with that Equity Refresh Program is also mentioned without any value. The recruiter said that this is the number of shares allotted dynamically every year based on time, level and performance. She said last year for L4 the grant was 8L. I have no experience with shares as my current TC doesn’t has it. Would someone from Uber India mind to answer the following questions? 1. how does this work? 2. When does this happen? 3. What does the amount depend on? 4. Can it be 0? 5. What is the vesting schedule? 6. How much did you guys get the last time (mention with your level) Thanks in advance. TC: 17L (15L base) YOE: 2 EDIT 1 Uber’s offer details: Base: 34L Retirals: 2.85L bonus: 5.4L New hire grant: $44.5K Annual Equity refresh: ?? Total: 34 + 2.85 + 5.4 + 8.34 = 50.6L
My refresh at L4 was ~$60k vested over 4 years
Refreshers are with year end perf. Vests 1/48 from month one. No cliff. New hire grant has cliff and vests 1/4 on first anniversary and 1/36 every month there after.

Hey, you got a really good offer, that's even 3x your current one. Could you pls tell more about the negotiation phase. Did you have competing offers?
You don’t need competing offers to get a good comp at Uber. Few points why I got such a big jump: 1. The level is L4. Currently the minimum base for a L4 is 30L. 2. I was underpaid at Sophos. Worked 2 years at the same TC. 3. Uber recruiters never low ball you. They’ll try to give you as much as you ask until they are within their level range. Unlike most other companies Uber doesn’t do cheap negotiation by mentioning your current TC over and over.
And yes I had competing offers as well: Walmart PANW AMZN just to name the big ones
Others maxed out at ~42L TC
1. Works is good, mostly chill. But it's based on the team you are in. 2. It happens with annual review appraisal time. Usually in March. 3. Depends on your Performance. 4. I don't think so. You would get some x amount of refreshes until you are not PIP i guess. Mine was $24k.

Thanks OP for updating the TC. Congratulations on the offer, looks pretty good for 2 YOE. From my experience, the refreshers depends on your appraisal reviews and are handed out as part of performance review. Btw, do you mind sharing your current TC?
