What’s the typical level of “head of _____” as in head of infrastructure, head of operations, etc.? Is that somewhat par as typical directors or VPs? Or somewhat lower? What would be typical “head” position’s TC in SF area?
Most of the head ofs are self invented. It can be an entry level PM
How many levels of PMs are there in Uber? Do highest level PMs report to first line manager?
There is never a title called “Head of.” They’re usually made to glorify a title due to insecurities or pretense. Most of the time they’re managers or leads.
Insecurities on the position itself? Or on potential candidates?
There is no title. It usually means a senior role in which they're in charge of something distinct
Thanks!
Ive seen exactly the same post a while ago [Blind] Check out this post! Head of * at Uber (Tech Lounge) https://us.teamblind.com/s/BGbePi4G
Sorry it says contents not accessible
If they’re a PM, I suspect they’re GPM (L6) or SPM2 (L5b). Director is pretty rare so they’d probably just use that title if they were at that level. I also know a “head of...” on the marketing side who is an L6. It is a huge span of ownership so I think it’s reasonable to highlight the Head aspect to external audiences on LI.
Ok thanks!
The PM observation is correct. Be aware of any one who is Head of Operations. Uber has many people who have Uber as their first jobs with 2 or 3 years of experience, self-claimed to be Head of something. The narcissism and title inflation is rampant.
Lol. I checked and one “Head of ___ Ops” has that has their workday title as well. So who knows what level they are.
Head of “ bitch ass infra “
