Currently L4 at Snap, TC 230k Got Uber L4 offer and wondering if I should take it? My motivation would be to take the higher salary. Offer: Base: 177k RSU: 350k front loaded 122k first year Target Bonus: 22k Sign on: 36k over two years TC first year: ~320 4.5 yoe 230k TC #uber #snap Seattle Has anyone had any success with negotiation with Uber recently? Recruiter is saying it’s very difficult unless you have 2nd offer and only the sign on can be bumped even in that case. Is this true? What if I have a significantly higher counter offer (I’m expecting from Meta and TikTok).
It doesn’t seem worth it imo. What are refreshers like at Snap? Assuming they’re as good as the initial equity grant then you’ll likely make more at Snap.
The refreshers only add to your 4th year of employment such that there is no cliff. They don’t affect your 2nd and 3rd years of employment. I’m not considering that at all cause I’m motivated to make a move to get my comp up for the next 2 years.
At the moment the comp diff between the two is almost 100k and that’s significant considering it’s like a ~40% bump to my current 230 comp.
Also, how long would it take to promo from L4 to L5A at Uber typically?
Minimum is usually 2yrs, though faster for exceptional cases. Best to assume average or worst case though. You have to convince a promo committee you meet all the competencies and show actual $ impact, which is not easy.
With that YOE, you should try for Uber L5A.
How would you approach that with the recruiter?
Did u setup expectations initially that you want senior role?
Why’s your snap tc so low? Stock crash?
Yes
What would you advise, take the new offer after trying to negotiate it further?
Did you join snap when the stock was really high?
Yes
What would you do in this case?
Yes I joined snap at high stock prices and that’s why my TC is so low.
Snap did nothing for existing employees for the big drop?
They did, I’m factoring that in when stating my TC. The stock has kept falling from the time they bridged the gap.
Wtf when did you get this Uber offer? Recruiter told me max stock was $275k front loaded 😅
Bro Uber is setting me up with a 5b interview with just 4yoe, I'm pretty sure L4 at Snap to Uber L4 is a downlevel which I personally would not take
Did you negotiate? I’m in same boat

Would seriously appreciate your thoughts I’m struggling as to what to do. I don’t have any experience on my resume longer than 1.5 years. And I’m also considering that as a point for staying at snap. My starting comp at snap was actually higher than my Uber offer but unfortunately has dropped by 100k or so down to 230 from 330.
