Any input on it? Seems to be a big team Anyone knows about WLB? How easy is to switch teams at Uber?
Infra is an entire org. There are many many teams in infra. What are you interested in? As far as switching teams, it’s very easy at uber but you need to give your current team 1 year. We used to allow as short as 6 months but it became problematic. If you want to switch teams and found a team that wants you, your current manager cannot stop you.
It’s a bad look to be worried about switching teams before you even join. Uber generally has a 12 month lock-in but even that is a minimum. I’d expect 18-24mo lock-in. What’s your concern?
I think this is a totally fair concern. Ive has enough managers and jobs to have had my fair share of shitty ones. I’ve also been in companies where transferring was really hard. Once you’ve had one of those experiences, you know to inquire about how easy moving teams is just in case.
Lot of interesting stuff happening in Uber infra teams.

Wouldn’t you rather come work for Lyft Infra? :)
Why? Infra problems at Uber are much bigger in scope and more challenging. It’s global infra running on both our datacenters and cloud providers. We’re supporting multiple businesses: rideshare, eats, freight, ATG, Maps, elevate. Uber infra will also look much better on someone’s resume because it’s real global scale infra.
