Had a call with an Uber recruiter, he called me 10 minutes late and didn’t acknowledge that or apologize for being late. Also sounded bored and like he was just reading a script and didn’t really care about my replies to his questions. Then sent me a link I this coding assessment you guys do now. I have to use this CodeSignal platform supply a picture of my ID, turn my video camera on and keep my face in view of the camera and also share my screen so they can make sure I don’t do any web searches while coding. LMAO This is like taking a test in college or something. Do y’all seriously have everyone who applies to senior level roles do this? Or is this just because I applied without a referral? Even Amazon only makes new grads/juniors do their online assessment.
A lot of tech companies are moving to assessments for senior engineers and the feedback we get from the code signal platform is that engineers generally find it a more fair exam than other alternatives. I can answer any questions your recruiter didn't get to if you have them
Fair as in less biased? I can see that for just this initial screen I guess, but after I do this exam I go to a tech screen or final round that involve interviewing with real people though so that potential bias is still part of the process.
This is so dumb. Let's boycott companies asking for such rounds!
Interesting. What’s wrong about googling stuff? Are we back to college again?
I think its a standard thing with uber. Its a pretty easy test though.
