I'm currently in the middle of term#2 and enjoying it. Does it really least to work on self driving cars at places like Lyft, waymo, Cruise, Uber et Al?
I think it can be helpful if you apply to test engineer or front end engineer or data related backend engineer roles. But will be no owrth for the case of core algorithm roles.
I was one of the first graduates and thoroughly enjoyed the course. But sadly the answer to your question is NO. The companies you mentioned have the same rigid hiring process as any other top software company. You are better off practicing on leet code and system design.

Maybe once you get in. I am not there yet :). For smaller companies or traditional companies (Ford, Bosch, GM etc) - definitely yes. But their pay sucks.
