Absurdities of the Bay Area 😒
These are starter homes and will find buyers in Seattle. Owning a house is a dream for many.
Mfw rentoids have no concept of eggity
Wtf is 1.75 bath?
This is not ugly at all, without kids I’d buy it. But I think SFH is good for raising young children
You’ll get annoyed climbing up and down in your own house. This is ok for a starter home but living in such homes can get annoying
No you won’t. People climb stairs all the time.
Goodness you must be fat
I would buy those. What’s wrong with them?
I personally like townhomes.
What makes you think you'd be able to swing a sfh later if you can only afford a townhome now? They're not exactly building new sfh in Seattle, quite the contrary. I live in a townhome and like it. Depends on the individual but there are advantages if you don't want a yard, etc. I barely maintain my patch of dirt and weeds out front as it stands. Appliances/etc are modern, nothing that needs repairing or significant maintenance. If you think of it as an upgraded condo, it's real nice.
Plenty of townhomes still come with a nice yard. If a yard is what you want it's not a feature exclusive to SFH. When I have kids I plan to upgrade to a larger townhome with yard (I currently have a 1650 sqft with no yard and no kids), but I never plan on living in a SFH as I value location too much.
The lines do get blurred a bit. I've toured "standalone" townhomes that share no walls, ones with yards, etc etc. At some point I'm not sure the distinction tbh. Is it the style of home? The way the land is parceled? I should know this, having both bought a home and work at Zillow but idk lol
Perverts who want to hear their neighbors 🤨
I've lived in a townhouse from the 80s and the noise was minimal. I would hope these modern ones have better sound insulation.
Build quality is only getting worse these days. The noise was ok when we didn’t have kids, now I’m not explaining to my kid.
It's the price point that people are drawn to. Updated building codes, modern appliances, often in a desirable area for a fraction of the cost of a nearby detached home. It's not my cup of tea either, but I can see the appeal for DINKs who want a place close to RTO.
They look fantastic and modern. Big, beautiful windows. Sorry your architecture taste is stuck in 1950. I bought and end unit of one of these types of townhomes with large windows cause I love how they look like and I love all the natural light when inside.

Nah, taste. Nobody stops you buying an ancient house with small windows if that's what you want. Just don't be surprised that it's less popular than modern homes.
