[No longer with C1 now] Long story short: I was laid off earlier this year, worked as contractor for a few months, then landed on my current role one month ago. I am going to office 2 to 3 times a week, mingling with the team, like the tech stack and feel this is a role where I can learn a lot and grow my career. The only complaint I have is that I was downleveled when given the offer. Now I have this one faang I failed to get team-matched one month ago came back to me with a good match and a ~50% TC bump from my current role (and I got the level I wanted). At this point I am just feeling bad about making any decision. I just got settled in with one nice team with good coworkers and laidback manager but then potentially have to say goodbye to everyone. I barely know how to start the conversation. And I don't know the true nature of this new faang team... would I ever be able to survive it? Would the team members be nice as well? Honestly my self-esteem kinda took a bad hit when I was laid off, worked as a sweatshop contractor, and then got downleveled, and then I saw there are so many things at the current role that I need to learn... all resulted in me thinking maybe I am really not up to the challenge. Your comments are welcome. I'm such a wreck at this point after all these events this year. I don't know if it's worth it potentially burning the bridge for a (riskier?) role. tc: 250k hybrid new tc: 380k full remote #tech #career #quit #faang #softwareengineer #software #swe #engineering
congrats Just use “yo I’m outtie 5000” we’re bringing it back
Ask them to match, they'll say no and then you leave. They'd fire you in a heartbeat so you do what's best for you
If you're chasing TC, go to faang, but if you value wlb more than money, stay where you are
They already downleveled you, and this new company sees you’re value. Go there.
Do what’s best for you. You’ve been already laid off by 1 employer. What guarantees that this employer won’t do the same?
