Uncle Sam needs immigrants to fund Social Security
***This is a controversial take a few days before 4th of July*** It's common knowledge that the revenue required to fund Social Security is woefully inadequate with persistent funding shortfalls. The percentage of retiring Americans is growing and their medical needs is growing much faster than the US GDP, so the funding gap will get progressively worse. America needs a source of revenue and where better to look than to migrants on work visas. Since they are knowledge workers, their taxable income is higher and the their contributions to social security is higher as well. Also, and this is the most important point ****a lot of them will never become US citizens (no political power), so US Govt doesn't have to fund/allocate any revenue once their working time is done***. The long lead times associated with getting a green card is a feature not a bug. Uncle Sam does not want more citizens (via naturalization) to look after, but rather it only wants your (workers on a visa) dollars to fund it's existing citizenary. Yes, we (visa workers) are contributing into something most of us will never avail. Pretty brilliant when you come to think of it.

That may or may not be true, but that's beside the point. My point is that any revenue - however big or small - is welcomed by Uncle Sam knowing they don't have to set aside funding outlays for those groups (migrant workers) they are taxing. The size is irrelevant.
It is true. There are approximately 600K H1Bs in the US. Even if they all made $160K or more, which they donât. That is still less than $7B in FICA taxes collected.

Medical needs for US aging population would be solved if the GDP was growing faster? I fail to see how. The GDP can grow as fast as you want, if you donât have enough doctors/nurses, high quality medical care canât be provided to everyone.
H1-Bs are also eligible for social security benefits.
1) H1B tech workers donât provide that much revenue in the grand scheme of things 2) if a person works more than 10 years theyâre entitled to SS even if theyâre not a citizen 3) that being said youâre on to something that the government definitely wants to gather as much people far away from retirement as possible in order to keep the Ponzi scheme going
Point 1 is irrelevant. Uncle Sam thanks you for the contribution however big or small. No where did I say migrants provide most of the SS funding. Point 2 - that's a helluva wait when most workers visa is valid for 6 years. Moving on... Point 3 - đđ

Even if that were true - which i can't find any evidence for - do you punish all migrants? 4) if you do a wee bit of research you would know that the US SS is underfunded because the taxes don't cover the expected revenue. STOP with your entitlement. If you donât like it here, you are free to leave anytime. This is not an airport, donât need to announce your departure. US Govt doesnât own anything to non-citizens, legal or illegal. Good for you for paying taxes that allows you to live your lifestyle of clean water, roads, air and amenities. Green card system is working perfectly as it was intended to. Itâs just a problem for Indians who are so desperate to leave India and donât want to go back to make their own country better. And then they bring all the worst things from India and try to enforce it upon people here. Itâs sickening and tiring of hearing these Indians crying foul I have a genuine question, I was told India is the heaven on earth and Bangalore and Hyderabad are the next Silicon Valley under Modi? Why are Indians so desperate to live here then?
