My gut feeling for the last few years was that electric cars (Tesla), AI accelerators (Nvidia), and Meta at the recent low were gonna be phenomenal investments but I was too scared to take risks and didn’t make big bets and just played the long game with VTI and QQQ. I am checking my stock apps every day really regretting not trusting my gut. I tell myself I would have sold early anyway and messed up so I shouldn’t feel bad… How do you guys deal? TC: 220k
I think that if it’s not your day job to make trades you shouldn’t stress over making the “safe” bet of buying index funds. Wanna know what probably would’ve happened if you traded actively? You’d have probably lost money compared to index. Nobody really finds alpha using consumer broker tools in the long run. You have to go all in and start your own fund and run with the big dogs. You’re an Apple engineer. You have enough skills to get rich via entrepreneurship in your field. Do that, or just work for 10-15 years then retire with all of your accumulated stock grants. You won’t find any sympathy here.
Ahh regrets regrets regrets. The ex that never leaves. Only way I have come to let go is by being forward looking, from here on now try to do better. In case of stocks, to me, is all about looking for next Tesla and Nvidia so that the ex doesn't come haunting again after 10 yrs 😄 Read 7 habits of effective men. Something like that. I always mix it up. Covey says not to make work and stock market ur anchor points. Live ur life. Focus on income for future proofing and find ur anchor points. People who read it pls add more. I need to read it again.
What does your gut say about the next big bets. We will invest;)
Haha I feel like those were super obvious. This is more sketch but my best effort serious answer for you is probably MTCH — online dating is the future and the new generations are gonna feel lonelier than ever. Stock is $50 now and hit peak of $180 in 2021
Mtch is a seasonal stock
Better to miss some upside than to lose your ass
Spill few more . I want those dating sites to crash down and do not want to invest though
Ok more weak bets with less hype: - environment (clean energy — solar, geothermal, recycling) - companies looking to disrupt housing/rental market
What companies in this sector tho? No clear names afaik
You think that TSLA and NVDA are a good long term investment? 🤦♂️
I believed they were poised to be major growth stocks and in hindsight… they were
“Meta at the recent low” So much wrong with that phrase.
It was literally sub $80
There will always be some opportunities you will miss, some that you will take, get lucky, etc. Understand and make peace with the the fact that you will never catch all opportunities and that's okay. There will be plenty of opportunities later. Learn lessons from opportunities missed, apply them to future endeavors.
I bought and sold carvana at 7 dollars 3 months ago. Best to buy what you can keep for 10 years and with money you don't need.
