Haven’t gotten PIP but know it’s coming since I got federal approval to sue Microsoft for workplace discrimination (manager made racist comment and sexual advances, CELA dismissed my claims after a bs self-investigation, long story). Once I do my connect review and they check the box for PIP, can I go on a PTO immediately thereafter? I have enough PTO for a month off. Plus getting fired while preparing my case sounds like heaven.

Lawsuit aside, if you’re going on a PIP and don’t plan to work your way out of it and stay at MS, I would 100% take as much PTO as possible.

They gave me less visible and measurable work after the incidents were exploited externally (manager made a post several weeks ago on Blind complaining about Karens, got caught) and this is my second connect in only a few weeks after my initial.. so yes, they can. 🙃

While you're on PTO/sick leave/leave of absence, your "pip clock" is paused.
