Expecting an offer from them. Can I get some help? Current TC at L64/12 YOE is ~65 LPA 50/15 (base/bonus). I have about 45 lacs unvested stocks (I have assumed 30% max for bonus instead of 15% for the sake of future TC calculation) What numbers can I expect from them? Should I reveal current TC if they ask for it? Thanks! UPDATE: I have verbal confirmation. Please help rate this offer Base/stock/joining bonus/yearly bonus 65lacs/100k/10lac/17% of base #salarynegotiation #microsoft #vmware #indiasalary #tech
Negotiate Base upto 80 Lakh stock upto 120k vested abs joining bonus 20% of base
thanks! base for staff engineer can go upto 80 lakh! this is not staff engineer 2. just trying to double check so that I don't end up quoting something too high or low. JB sounds about right
also, what is the bonus range? and typically how much do you end up getting? e.g. at MSFT for 0-30%, I calculate it as 15% since that's something I can get for sure. does it work the same as vmware?
Op 45 lacs vesting this year?
sorry for the typo. 45 lacs is the total unvested amount (corrected)
And what's that amount which is vesting in current year?
It would not be a wise step to leave Microsoft and join vmware at this point in time. VMware's ceo also left creating huge uncertainty. Dell spinoff is pending What if Intel acquires vmware and then do huge restructuring
I see. that is an interesting point of view. Guess I need to do a bit more homework?
Can VMware folks can provide their inputs? That would be really helpful
I have posted an update with the numbers that were shared verbally. Is it ok? Which area can I push for more?
Ask for more stocks.
agree. stocks are low.
Any thoughts on the % bump I should be aiming for? Is 30% = low-balling myself?
Run away from VMware. It's a sinking ship. The higher your TC, higher are the chances of your name to feature in the next layoff cycle, provided management thinks that your work is not justifying the kind of numbers they are paying you(sometimes that's not a criteria even). It's a whole lot of trouble to live with a constant fear of being laid off. Twice a year. You're already in a fine organization. You can pass on VMware and aim for better. My 2 cents!
Thanks. Have you worked at vmware before (out of curiosity) ? What if the BU is promising?
Yup I was a long timer at VMware. If your outlook is short term, then go ahead and join if you like the BU. If you're looking for a long term stint, I would suggest reconsidering.
Avoid joining VMware now from a stable place like MSFT. Lot of churn in the company
I have VMware interview coming up. Now looking at comments, I am second thinking my descision to interview with them.
@op.. Did you join VMware?
