I will be speaking with a VMWare recruiter for a Tanzu Role. I understand it is a consulting role and will not have TC comparable to SDE roles. Based on what I saw Tanzu is more like Open shift . I worked most of my consulting career on project delivery roles. I have a good technical understanding on containerization and solution architecture but no prod level experience like setting up infra from scratch. Will that go against me during the conversation? (Updated) TC without RSU is @ 210K Base : 168K Bonus (if everything goes well :)) : 42K was told there is RSU but nothing confirmed and it is a P5 Solutions Engineer with MABU and I am yet to be interviewed to see if I am fit or not.

Sounds like the recruiter is referring to Tanzu Labs, which is our professional services / consulting arm. This group was previously known as Pivotal Labs before Pivotal was acquired by VMware. Has nothing to do with Tanzu R&D which is all in the Kubernetes space

my 2¢ here just to avoid any bias on toxic, it depends, make sure you get a good offer cause they are having lots of funky timea woth pso folks and that is a geay area that is hard to tackle.
Got it. I hope things aren't too terrible. I can handle challenging customers but definitely not a difficult employer/group within an org.
I work for Tanzu and don’t fully understand technically what k8s are, and don’t need to know it for day to day work. I’m on a product team and the teams we work with are engaged 8hrs a day but never after. We are also expected to coach or enable our clients to work independently eventually following Tanzu practices, which are the best practices and skills necessary to work using agile and lean methods for your discipline.
