Hi. I have an upcoming interview. I was wondering if anyone could shed light on the vacation policy at Expedia? I’ve been reading reviews that say unlimited while others say 3 weeks.
'Unlimited' ultimately means 'up to your manager'
15 days + 2 floating holidays
Suggested is 3 weeks(15 days) to start. But it is unlimited, with additional years of service adding to the suggested. It is up to your manager but the teams I’ve been on all that means is send an invite to team well in advance of time taking off and it should be fine. Time off is not tracked by HR— managers CAN track but I never knew of any that did.
I’ve also not tracked my time off but I guesstimate that I come in at a little bit more than the 5 weeks I had. Meaning I plan for the suggested 5 weeks but will take additional half days/random days off as they come up without problem.
Also it does not accrue(you can use it all as soon as you start) or roll over to the next year nor do they pay it out if you leave/get laid off.
Depends on tenure, but you start with 3 wks and 2 floating the first 3 yrs.
3 weeks
It’s a bad start if you’re looking for unlimited vacation to begin with.. Getting job in today’s macro economy is a blessing
It’s not unlimited. It’s 3 weeks and starts increasing after 3 years. It also doesn’t roll over.
Any discrepancy you are seeing here from Expedians (or ex-Expedians) is based on location. Some states and countries require you to accrue time off. For those places, you do have to officially track and submit requests. For all other places, tracking is not required and based on manager's discretion. There is an HR guideline for time off based on tenure. You can always work with your manager.
There’s guidance but it really depends on your manager. I’ve already taken off 25 days this year when I’m really only supposed to have 17.
