My I-485 was filed without I-693. Lawyer has asked to wait for the RFE for the medical exam. My biometrics are done and I was considering completing the medical exam and keeping it ready to send when I get the RFE. If I complete the medical exam now, how long is it valid for me to send it as RFE response ?
Wait for the RFE and get the medical done. That's the safest way to ensure there's no delay due to validity etc.
Are you able to finish all the pending immunization etc within the timeframe to respond for the RFE ?
Yeah, it's really really easy. I had a few of them done because I had to get those before coming to the US years ago. I got a cocktail of immunizations done on the same day. The challenge is mostly around getting apt early enough. As of when I did it, COVID was rampant so doc. apts were hard to get. I don't think that should be a problem now.
Go to doctor complete the process and tell doctor to wait till you ask final signed form. Once u get RFE just walk to doctor and get the signed form.
This, get everything lined up. Get the final signature after RFE.
You have 30 days from the point doctor signs the I693 - so USCIS has to receive it in 30 days. Wait until you get RFE, I tried sending it in without RFE and they sent RFE for medical anyways.
If you want to save on time - just get all the vaccination records in place
Thanks @fbhs02. Do you know which vaccinations are required for adults ? The uscis site doesn't specify which ones are required for adults.
I would suggest get 2 copies. Send one before an RFE. I have seen success cases at both LIN and SRC. DM me for link to medical interfiling telegram group.
Microsoft immigration told us if you get your medical exam after filing I485, it's valid for 2 years.
"USCIS generally considers a completed Form I-693 to retain its evidentiary value for two years after the date the civil surgeon signed Form I-693, as long as the date of the civil surgeon’s signature is no more than 60 days before the applicant filed Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status."
2 years
Once the doctor signs the i693 form, it needs to reach uscis within 60 days. Once they have it, you are good that it’s validity will be 2 years from signature date.
If doc signed after u filed 485, then u have 2 years to submit form to uscis after doc signs. 60 day rule applies to signature before 485 is filed.
^this is correct
Pretty sure it's 60 days Edit: have you gotten your i485j yet?
What is I-485J ? Is that for when you move from your sponsoring employer to another ? I haven't changed my job since filing the I-485
Are you EB?
