Viacom Los Angeles

My friend is currently interviewing but the 2.5 stars on Glassdoor is freaking her our a little bit. Is there truth behind the low rating? Should she avoid and find other opps?

ask hard questions like what’s the average tenure? why are you guys hiring? what do you think will be the biggest challenge for me? and read their body language and voice tone as they answer. ask them why they have 2.5 stars on glassdoor.

I would closely pay attention to Glassdoor reviews. I’ve found for the company I work for they were EXTREMELY accurate. Particularly the negative reviews.

Avoid Viacom. Company basically let a shit load of people go over past year, poor leadership, no direction, little career growth

I would take the Glassdoor reviews very seriously. Learnt this the hard way with a previous employer - everything was accurate. Also look at the number of people who found the negative reviews 'Helpful'. The count alone should be a good indicator.

Almost all media company engineering jobs are a shit show. The best way to survive, possibly even flourish is to be good at building personal rapport with as many as you can.
