Got an offer from Visa inc, India. TC: 1C - 86L + 14L target bonus Role: Lead software engineer Yoe: 17 years My current TC: 63L + 6L bonus + stocks( It's not fixed. May or May not get. But got about 20L average each year for last 2 years) Is Visa inc better than HPE R&D? #engineer #visa #hpe
Wlb is better and chilled but …. With this yoe why not into technical leadership roles. They have multiple migration projects or ground up projects with less roadmap. Ofc the hiring is for filling this gap particularly. DP team is good and huge spread across us/Singapore/recently india .
I asked for a director role there. But currently I work as a principal engineer in my current org. So they were not ready to offer. Btw, I am getting a management role in my current company. I am a bit confused to continue here and work as an engineering manager or join Visa and do an IC role.
Whats your preference? Management or IC? If management stay in HPE and try for director roles later. Btw, HPE doesn't have bonus in offer letter, you are talking about the year end bonus? Do you get around 6L every year?
No RSU from Visa?
They are ready to give all my current un vested stocks. But based on performance they give every year but not sure how much
Performance based stocks are not too much as far as I know from my friends in visa.. So negotiate for an RSU now itself, if you are considering to join..
At your level, you’ll see more politics than in Indian government. DPD isn’t that great. Little to no impact of their work. Upper level management focuses more on teams that bring in direct revenue like core payments, B2B, Direct. In bad times, all innovation projects from DPD, Solutions, Research are cut. I wouldn’t join Visa again.
Al-kelly, Do you see risk in dpd teams? If this is not impacting revenues, bonus and RSUs would be lesser, is it? Were there any layoffs in the past?
Last year, there was only a flat 5% raise for L7+ whereas some L5s even got 20% raise. Getting high bonuses at that level depend on a lot of things. No layoffs.
Got it - Thanks
What department at visa? AmR&D department at any company is a better bet than a DEV team. R&D department gets more resources any day from my experience.
It's a dev team at Visa. Data platform team
I would recommend doing some research before joining.
