I'm planning to visit South Lake Tahoe this weekend if there is no snow storm warning. Is there a possibility I will need snow chains at this time of the year? If there is, I may not go. Please share your experience if you have visited in the past few weeks. Thanks.
Just buy chains, they're like $40 one time
My god. Have you not heard of google?
How can I help?
OK Google, play despacito
Yes, chains will be required. Check the caltrans site
Thanks. I can see they have live cam in many spots. I will be able to decide on Saturday morning.
Definitely a good strategy, chains are a pain in the ass, good to rent a 4x4 for the weekend if you don’t have one and are really serious
If your have awd/4wd and severe weather tires you don't need chains.
All Season M+S tires
There is a level beyond 4wd where they can require 4wd and chains. I think that's the step right before road closure.
You wouldn’t need chains unless you are going when it is snowing

What happens when most of your team is Indian?
Well, you need chains right now. More snow tomorrow but if you are going up Fri night or later should be totally fine.
