Or is it even worth repairing? Screen is black, won’t start, status light turns on when pressed on but goes away. Samsung Tizen vs LG webos vs Sony Bravia?
LG or Sony- OLED
Sounds like the back light went out.. the repair cost is not worth it. Bravia is the best s/w and image processing wise but they are expensive sets - they get their panels from LG and Samsung LG's OLEDs are great and you can find nice discounts but the software sucks Haven't had that much experience with Samsung's s/w but there Q-OLEDs have very bright colors that pop. More expensive than LG though..
I think either main board or back light. But the sound does not work so maybe main board.
Lg OLED. Webos sucks just get an Apple TV with it and you’re good.
Probably just a capacitor issue. Open the TV look at the board and see if any of the large 350V 10uF caps are blown. Basically it’ll look puffed up. Sometimes it’s hard to see but if you see the wrapping a little broken, then the cap is blown. Just replace. They are like a few bucks on eBay. Takes like 10 minutes to fix if you know how to solder.
Sorry noob here at solder and stuff
LG and Samsung make the best normal TVs. Unless you have the big dollars for a B&O or something
