Hi All, Just got to know that Vmware workspace one team has 12 hours of on call rotation. Is it legal to force employees to continuously work for 12 hrs in a day without any break including weekends. Edit: there is no overtime allowance and no comp off after 7 days shift. Share your opinion.
So? I'm on-call for 24*7 when it's my turn. Doesn't mean you have to work for 24 hours or be online 24 hours. But you do have to be ready for alerts at any time. 12 hours is an improvement.
How many days in a row..officially
Usually 7 days since it's round Robin. And if the team size is big like 10 or so you one have to do it once every 2 to 3 months. If the team size is like 4 5 people, on call will be too frequent so in such cases you can have 2 weeks on call. But in team sizes this small the issues would be no existant so it balances out
That's normal in most companies. 3 teams in 3 different timezones will introduce more time wasted on meetings and sync up calls compared to the extra 4 hours you will be on call.
Amazon has 24*7 for one person
How many days in a row ?
Not sure. I will be joining next month. I think it's rotational basis weekly
