How to be content in life?
12 years in US. Age 41. Married with single income. Living in Seattle. Networth - 5 Million (4.3 in US, 0.7 in India). What worked: - Buying a house as soon as moved to US even when TC was 120K. - Leveraged housing market. Upgraded 2000 sft -> 3000 sft -> 4500 sft. Bought houses with only 5-10% down-payment. - Kept all 3 houses, bought before 2019, re-financed all at 1.9% rate in 2021. My 2 Rentals pays for mortgage for all 3 (cash-flow positive). - Meta stock. Kept all of my vest and even bought more for investment. Entire 401K Roth moved to Meta stock. What did not worked: - Stayed in a lower tier FAANG for a decade. Should have switched earlier. - Buying apartment in India.
Good progress jhandi, motivating
I wasted years in startups. Now I’m 39 and NW is $1.3M. W2 for this past tax year was 315k. Really need to focus on money and promos now
It’s cool how it snowballs once you hit the first million or two. I’m same age, around $7.1M (0.5 in India, rest in US split half and half between real estate and stock). Can’t wait to hit $13M in 5 years and leave the IT industry. Keeping fingers crossed we don’t see another stock market crash.
Yup, the current trend adds 0.8-1 Million every year.
20 - 21, the pivot year
It's for everyone who was "invested".
Good for you. I'm close to 50 and only have about 3M. It's all because I couldn't take any risks and put most money in CDs with 2% interest for the last decade. It's so annoying everyday when I'm reminded how I could have retired if only I took some risk.

This numbers in this post don’t add up to me , you seem more realistic don’t beat yourself up
What are your investments? If you can share some breakdown and some of the stocks that yo're owning.
Now go live a little 😀
NW is including house ?
I have multiple investment properties and it is including that.
Were you at Amazon until 2018 and then moved to meta as e5 ?
At 2018, I got a dive-and-save from Amazon - an External offer that Amazon matched. Moved to Meta as E6 in 2021, but stock tanked and 600K TC only resulted in 400K TC in W2.
Sde3 to e6 ?
