It’s actually Pratt & Whitney engines that are the culprit most likely
Exactly this. This isn’t necessarily a design flaw of the aircraft itself, but rather an issue with the engines from P&W. Could also impact any other aircraft using the same engine (if any do).
Agreed. But Boeing is getting a lot of heat
Complacency. Time for Boeing to go down like Nortel.
Who would be the huawei ?
You really think America’s bigger manufacturer and exporter would go down like Nortel? Keep dreaming lol. Boeing’s defense sector is bigger than all US airlines combined. They aren’t going down anytime soon, it’s a great time to buy Boeing stock as well.
Glad we bailed them out instead of fixing management issues
Too big to fail
As bad as you think Boeing is, you should have your facts right before spreading misinformation. Boeing was encouraged to take the bailout but rejected the offer.
No actually the hw failure is due to sw outsourced to Indian consulting companies (sarcasm), even though it's not coded by the said outsourced company. For the 787 max, this was the blame, I remember, blind community loved.
*737 MAX
You clearly know what you're talking about 🙄
Do some research instead of just reading clickbait titles. The plane in question was built in 1995 (in fact it’s the 3rd oldest plane of its type in operation) and the engine was made by Pratt & Whitney (Boeing doesn’t make its own engines). There’s a total of 24 of such ancient planes flying that were grounded that’s it. This is like someone who had their data breached off Equifax blaming Apple for it because they had the app on their phone. Or someone blaming Apple because their iPhone 3G from 2008 blew up. Unbiased Source(s): https://nymag.com/intelligencer/2021/02/ua328-ancient-777-strews-debris-over-colorado.html https://www.wsj.com/articles/boeings-777-problem-is-no-max-11614004093
This needs to be higher. The 777 is arguably the safest aircraft ever built. There’s been 13 or so haul losses and only a couple dozen deaths (not counting the missing MH370 and the one Putin shot down). For a plane that holds 350 people, that is amazing.
Real talk: if someone’s iPhone from ‘08 blew up, that *should* be on Apple. A company should be responsible for the safety of their products from cradle to grave. If it needs to be disposed of before it’s 13 years old, that should be part of the process. Your first piece about them not being responsible for that particular system operating as expected is sound though.
WTF over reactionary general public?
Was currently going down at Boeing
I think this is what happens when all of your technical talent is busy working on social media and movie streaming
It's not a Boeing problem, but a United Airlines [and maybe] a Pratt and Whitney problem. Also, 24 year old plane that has been properly maintained isn't quite ancient yet.
