Hi folks, Did you ever see a SWE fired from Walmart due to bad performance or slacking off work or after a bad evaluation? TC - 180
Does Walmart have PIP?
I believe PIP is possible but I don’t think we have quotas for attrition like e.g. Amazon. If we do have quotas I haven’t heard about it.
A principal mobile engineer was fired in 2019 due to bad performance.
Walmart is not having PIP culture anymore. You can enjoy your journey
False
I had two years of partial meets in a row, then got promoted the next year
In my career I saw one person was given a choice to either find a new job or pass the PIP. 2018 i belive
In Grocery team?
Yes, improvement programs are there it seems
Yeah..but it rarely ends in being fired. Even needs is non-mandatory for indiv teams. Had our management bragging last year that there wasn't a single needs improvement in our entire team for the last 2 years.
No employee passes through pip. Walmart is shi*
The quota for PIP is lower, but your TC is based on how well you do. So a PIP won't get you fired but it also won't get you your total compensation. Even a successful on the low side can give you only 85% of bonus and RSUs
Yes, a dev(x3) was fired from my team last year for consecutive bad reviews in 2 years and failing to pass the improvement program.
Eventually will be fired, unless you perform in the upcoming months. But if it’s personal vendetta you can’t do much. Walmart has lot of internal politics
Review didn’t go well, huh?
