Assuming TC is the same, which is worth more. The pros of WLB at Walmart, or the brand name added by being at a FANG? #amazonaws #walmart
I have been at both places. The experience at Amazon is valued more by other companies though quality of work at Amazon is shit in most of the teams. The major problem with walmart is very low hiring bar which means u will work with below average engineers
Uh I don't think hiring bar is that low at Walmart comparing to Amazon
Just had interviews at both and the difficulty was similar. Only major difference I noticed was with the LP questions at Amazon making the experience a bit more stressful. Tech questions were about the same in my experience
I would say it is...
Doesn't WM have like huge yearly bonus % ?
It's a part of TC so no extra money
Amazon has more prestige than Walmart. There will be more internal mobility options in Amazon and more opportunities to learn and grow. WLB is going to suffer at amazon. I know 2 PM ' s at WL and I am not impressed.
Company's prestige has nothing to do with us, if work/TC/manager is good we are ok for the most part we are ok. I don't think anyone hires just because you worked with a certain company. Having a good manager is key for opportunities and growth, my personal experience.
@HJfC22 If everything was comparable ( TC/ manager / problem space ) would you pick Amzn or WM ?

Brand name doesn’t really mean much when the industry still has a shortage of qualified people, so I’d optimize for WLB. Of course Google has the best of both worlds there.
Highly disagree. Brand name plays a big role in how lucrative you seem to recruiters. Anyone that tells you otherwise is lying. I've gotten far more recruiters from companies I'd be interested in hitting me up ever since I joined Amazon. That isn't to say you can't get a good job without coming from a brand name, it's just brand names help open doors. It's like why it's easier to get an interview at elite hedge funds if you have Harvard on your resume rather than a state school, both provide good educations but one looks better on paper.
