Apparently they can get 6 figure bonuses
Job is hard asf. Maybe not in the technical way that people are used to on blind.
Probably, lots of social overhead, most introverts would get rekt at it
Yeah. The dealing with the public by itself is enough to make you want to quit. But then add in the expectations of being an expert in multiple business sections, financial management, coaching development, holiday craziness every other month, no time to take time off, having your job depend on customer satisfaction etc it's a hot mess lol
Glad to see wages going up for non-tech, although prices will rise and tech companies should pay us more
I think the work experience factor is missing here. GMs of stores might get 200k but it presumably takes 10-15 years to reach there. Whereas I’m tech 200k is almost starting salary or 1-2 year experience. Not saying that Walmart is not a good option. Just saying that it’s nowhere close to a tech job or even a non-tech strategy or PM role at a good company.
It says speedy path to manager in 2 years
GM also works their asses off, and work most major holidays too. I was a best buy asst manager while going through college. Know all too well from observing. Ha
seems more fun than swe
This is way harder work and more stress than a typical 210k TC SWE job, but very few people would be successful at both.
Would’ve never ever imagined that a job at a physical Walmart store would pay anything close to 200k
Why not? Target is in same range. Electronics stores like best buy are sitting around like 130-150 for GMs of stores. Etc
I worked retail more than 15 years ago and even then the assistant managers were making 80k, department managers 115k
