Today Walmart announced a “gentleman’s layoff”. They said they are closing 3 hubs, and remote workers need to return to office. Deal: work 30 days + 60 days limbo + ~10 week severance. Source a friend that was impacted. #layoff
Ah the Waltons, hording all their money in Luxembourg
Wo? Wo?
Idk almost half a years pay sounds pretty sweet. they're barely going to work for the 1 + 2 limbo months and they get scheduled bonuses and rsus. Sounds sweet to me
Better severance than Amazon, as usual.
The turn around time from the email to the blind post is really wow!
What’s 30 days + 60 day limbo? On top of 10 week?
Which org were impacted ?
What is that? You’re paid for 30 days? Then on payroll for 60 days then a severance?
Can you give some more info? Location, orgs etc?
Strange they were able to scrap this news under the carpet!
I agree. I almost missed the message.
Are you taking it? Where are you located?
In SoCal working remotely, not looking to relocate and go in 2 days of work, to click some buttons and watch builds run
Wait a minute… I didn’t see this news?! Where are people seeing this
Not on the news, just a meeting set up for certain associates
Check your email CTO sent it yesterday evening.
Wow. I was thinking of applying here to safeguard against potential layoffs at Microsoft, but now that they’re making people come into the office I’ve crossed it off my list.
It’s just a big dance. I got laid off google and am now interviewing with Microsoft.
How does remote workers returning to office save money? Not sure I understand Walmarts thinking of lumping that in with layoffs
I guess you haven’t been following how companies are essentially forcing the hand of employees who moved or don’t want to come in to get an uptick of attrition without paying out severance. Welcome to corporate chess games. Don’t miss the forest when looking at the trees.
Agree with mb pizza. They are using the layoffs to try to make people go back to the office...Conspiracy theorist in my thinks it almost seems coordinated.
