Walmart offer

Does Walmart have a hire-to-fire culture? Will there be possible layoffs there? Got an offer for a Data Scientist position there and need to know the scene. TC - 110k YoE - 3.5

Maybe. Some team members disappear after a few months. Noone can confirm though. Stay at consulting. Changing jobs in this economy is risky.

Walmart Sum1frenzy Nov 22, 2022

No! Walmart is considered the recession proof company. I haven’t seen anyone being fired from Walmart unless they brought that situation on themselves. If I were you, I’d accept the offer if you are comfortable with the money on the table.

How are the performance reviews in general ?

Is this Walmart global tech or Walmart corporate? Culture is business unit dependent.

@Op is your consulting firm hiring?

No Layoffs are always possible, but Q3 earnings were really good so nothing layoff-wise is on the horizon now Other poster is correct about culture, walmart tech has a much better culture than corporate imo Offer seems pretty low overall, so I'm assuming it's not a tech offer

Walmart has more employers than the US armed forces. They are recession and layoff proof

I joined Walmart after Boeing (2x) and Amazon. Walmart is flexible I work remote for home office. At Amazon it was cut throat. Boeing I always feared layoffs the first time because I joined after the Max crashes. The second time was due to rate reduction and supply chain issues. Global tech for Walmart is up and coming, I actually met the CTO last week. Coming up for my first performance review after joining in August so not much to say there but goals are clear, and there’s so much opportunity in my org to grow and improve.
