Want to retire early, but too far away financially.

Any tips for dealing with burnout when you’re only a minimum of a third of the way through your career? Aiming to be out by 35. Just 8 more years, I got this...

What will you do at retirement? Why aren’t you doing that now?

Intuit 🧢🎒🕶 OP Jan 9, 2019

I want to go to the gym more and honestly just take a slower pace.

I kind of started doing that second part (like sleeping in so I feel rested) to the detriment of my career because I figure I might as well feel rested and miss a morning meeting if that means actually having a shot at being more productive.

Figure out why you want to retire and what you are going to do from age 35 to 85 years old. Your 27 and you want to retire?

Intuit 🧢🎒🕶 OP Jan 9, 2019

I go to work, I try to focus in the office with limited success. I work at night (coffee shops) since I want to see my dreams have some chance at happening (more coding). Working for someone else, which is financially critical, feels like I’m fulfilling someone else’s dream more than my own. I see coworkers pushing code from 9am to 8pm on more weekdays than not. I don’t even know how they do that. Don’t they have their own dreams? What about spending time with their significant others?

Well, what is your dream?

Target funds/income?

Intuit 🧢🎒🕶 OP Jan 9, 2019

All in VTSAX. (Un)fortunately I have some appreciated company stock. Want to sell it but Cali taxes capital gains and earned income. So, really don’t plan on realizing those gains until my income is lower.
