Tl;dr I was forced to resign in late September due to the company's financial instability. My expertise lies in, but is not limited to, product marketing, performance marketing, and ads optimization. If you're interested in knowing why, please read on. === The Rise and Fall === In 2021, I joined a company that focused on data management, and their vision was impressive. They wanted to create a data platform in my country, just like Databricks, Snowflake, or Tableau. Their goals even got them recognition from Forbes as part of their 30 Under 30 list, both nationally and in Asia. One of the founders was a Xoogler (ex-Google employee) from Mountain View, and the team had impressive academic backgrounds, graduated from the prestigious university in Bay Area. It all seemed set for success, and I was excited to lead marketing and support the sales team. But things took a turn when the founders decided to go all-in on a product-led growth strategy. I had my doubts because they developed a full product before testing the market, and a B2B2C approach needed a big marketing budget. Despite my concerns, they went ahead with their plan. === The Drama === As 2022 rolled in, one of the founders left the company due to health issues, leaving many employees upset. What most didn't know was that he left because he knew the platform wouldn't bring in the expected money. I had inside information from attending management meetings. This marked the beginning of the company's troubles. The CEO struggled to make sales and began to blame the sales team. He even resorted to lying to clients, partners, and investors to get money. The CTO asked the marketing team to shift focus to a market-led platform and kept changing the direction. It was chaotic, and although they wanted to increase revenue, they didn't invest in marketing. I couldn't understand why they were so focused on engineers. The company was on the verge of bankruptcy and had to reduce staff. Unfortunately, I was one of the ones let go. === The Reason for Remote Work === Amid these professional challenges, my personal life had its own struggles. My mother has had lupus, an autoimmune disease, since 2015. I was the one taking care of her. Between 2017 and 2018 we had a private nurse to take care of her. Unfortunately, that nurse took advantage of my mom's condition and stole her money and belongings. Since my mom's health issues have made her almost blind and deaf, I had to move back to her house and care for her personally. We have a new nurse now, but my commitment remains. Her condition hasn't stopped me from working, but it would be wonderful if I could work remotely and be close to her. She's fragile, and I want to be with her as much as possible. === What Can I Offer === I understand there might be doubts about my marketing skills, coming from a developing country. To address those doubts, I'm willing to do a free marketing audit or any marketing tasks (product marketing, performance marketing, ads optimization, marketing research, etc) for up to two months to prove myself.
