I had an onsite interview a few days ago which i am awaiting feedback from a commitee for. I came in with a very strong written recommendation and I am confident that 3 of the 4 interviews think I am a strong hire for the team. The three interviewers that I am positive about are on the team I would be working on. The fourth interviewer I get the freling may be on the fence maybe leaning towards “no”. The 4th interviewer was not working on the team or with the position I am applying for. They work for google and they’re helping interviewee for this relatively new team. 1. What are chances of this going sideways and not getting an offer due to the one No (assuming it is a no) given that I performed very well in the other three? 2. Is the recommendation my former colleague gave included in my packet reviewed by the hiring commitee?
You can still get an offer with one no, or even two maybe nos. You might be asked to do more interviews or they might just give you an offer. I would not count on strong hire from the other 3, those are very rare.
Any idea how long it takes to get back to a candidate? Or if written recommendations are included in the hiring packet?
Probably a week or two. Your packet goes to a hiring committee which will make the final decision. Full feedback, notes and your code written (if any) are visible to the hiring committee.
How did you still go onsite?
Strong hires are rare, don’t be so overconfident. If you did indeed get 3 strong hires then you’ll get an offer for sure
Ok then maybe 3 thumbs ups and a strong written recommendation from a former colleague.
How long has it been since your onsite? Mine was a week ago, and the recruiter said he’ll get back by Monday latest. It’s Thursday today and I’m yet to hear from him. He’s been super responsive all along, and now I’m super anxious.
Since Monday. HC meets Thursday’s I believe. Google can move slowly as they churn through other applications as well.
Oh, the recruiter told me that waymo didn’t exactly follow the google (HC) procedure? 🤔
Guys, I have mine now too, but a tech phone interview for a Software development CV position which is now like 2 weeks later. Did you guys hear back? Are they still hiring?
what kind of questions did they ask?
What kind of questions was it? Ordinary leet code and design?
Security engineering questions. Two code review questions - not sure why they didn’t ask more because I definitely can spot bugs... Other interviewers covered similar topics such as reverse engineering and spotting bugs in disassembled code. I did very well on that—plus those questions were asked by a staff engineer who is a member of the team I interviewed for.
Nice. I am sure it went well
