LayoffsNov 3, 2022

We are ONE. Together.

Layoffs, hiring freezes, impending ( lol ) recession, no more “soft landing”. We should all be supportive of one another in these trying times. Mostly because i still see nasty comments on Reddit like : “Oh you got whats coming for you”, “good finally yalls can stop inflating property prices here in bay area “, “Go back to Bengaluru”… Remember “Today you, Tomorrow Me” Thankful for Blind that its not as cancer-ridden as Reddit , yet. #Positivity #vibes #godblessAmerica #layoff

Yes - layoff paranoia is real. I personally feel so distracted and honestly waking up everyday dreading to check my emails. Surreal times

Same here. After a 2020 layoff and nearly ending up homeless (my TC was worse than 🥜), I am in a constant state of stress. We aren’t even in a hiring freeze and we’ve posted a ton of internship openings, which we didn’t have the budget for in 2020/2021 (meaning our department’s budget has improved). There’s zero signs of a layoff yet I am freaking out.

Being rude and mean just to be rude and mean is one thing. That's your example 1 and 3. Talking about how this will lead to bay area pricing changes does not fit the category of just being nasty

Meta daddy_thad OP Nov 3, 2022

Big words. Tech people are not responsible for natives getting priced out. Blame your government.

Boeing aeros Nov 3, 2022

Did I even bring that up lol Talk about jumping the gun

ByteDance bEmc31 Nov 3, 2022

Agreed. I suppose a silver-lining in all of this is we don’t see those “Do you think we make too much money? I’m 23 years-old and make $500k lol” flex posts on here that much lately

Meta daddy_thad OP Nov 3, 2022

Yeah. But outside of Blind people will laugh if you say “i got a $200k offer straight out of college “. People ignore what they don’t understand

Klaviyo symbiotic Nov 3, 2022

Blind is very cancerous but at least there are less people LARPing than on reddit

Meta fbEex Nov 3, 2022

Lol what blind app are you looking at?

Google busy 🐝 Nov 3, 2022

It can happen to any of us. I really don’t understand why anyone (outside of Finance or HR) be cheering for layoffs.

Tough times

Wow it's stressful!

Autodesk kylling 🇳🇴🐔 Nov 3, 2022

I actually feel bad for Meta employees and really anyone getting laid off. I’ve been there, and it sucks. I don’t believe in reveling in others hardships but helping each other. 🤷🏻

Thanks for having a kind soul <3
