I've been at the company for years and started as an IC and after multiple promotions moved into management when I decided to make a career switch. I didn't make manager on my first attempt but I think the process is very fair and enjoy working for the company. M2- Associate Manager M3- Manager M4-Sr. Manager Beyond that you start to get to director levels.
Analyticss was denied promo and has been non-stop bashing Workday on Blind for months now. He/she/they should just move on. It's embarrassing. Management levels are Associate Manager (M2), Manager (M3), Senior Manager (M4), Director (M5), Senior Director (M6). The majority of managers are either M3 or M4. M3 is about equivalent to a Senior engineer in terms of TC, and M4 is about equivalent to Principal. M2 is usually first time managers and I've never seen anyone in this level for more than 2 years. Most are promoted after 1st year. As long as you manage a team working on highly visible/lucrative projects, you can get promoted to M4 easily. WLB is great and is the reason people join workday. TC may not be MAANG level, but considering hardly anyone works more than 40 hours/week, it's not bad. TC: 400k YOE: 9 (4 at workday)
Thank you so much for the insightful response. Much appreciated! 🙏🏻

Believe me. If you have any other choice, don’t go there, especially if you have a CS degree. Lots of people are getting out within their first few months. Don’t make that mistake!

Are you currently an individual contributor? Suggest don’t waste time unless you already have a lot of friends in management there. Promotions are hard to come by. It helps if you are a woman or a certain dominant race here since the company practices extreme favoritism and nepotism. Check out the negative reviews on Glassdoor for some details. Feel free to DM if you want to chat more. 🤣
There are other threads where people believe that everything is fair and meritocratic. If you complain, you are sour grapes.
@Workday is right, been in the company for less than 6 months. I can already confirm this culture. I don't know who are these people who are saying positive things for Workday on Blind. WLB is the shittiest among the last 6 companies I worked for.
