Social media industry is hugely competitive. Facebook is now heavily challenged by TikTok, which partially accounts for its stock crash. I understand LinkedIn, as social media, is quite different, we are smaller in scale, no competitor so far, and backup by MSFT, sounds quite the opposite to FB. But I can hardly believe LinkedIn will be professional social network monopoly forever, so what should we learn from FB?
get on the reels and stories, don’t delay
Acquisitions
I hope they put more thought into their strategy than a one word response
Stay true to the initial use case, helping people find job (add adjacent categories and tools through innovations, acquistions) and away from optimizing the feed, full of cringey toxic junk!!
We need to pay attention to gen Z and younger.
Get worried if you see a more cringe platform
I left using Facebook when the feed became mostly bs posts and adds. LinkedIn hasn't reached that point but getting super close with the recent flurry of low quality posts. I hate the fact that LinkedIn aggressively puts posts of indirect connections in my feed, cause someone from my network decided to like their "Super excited to announce .." posts. As an aggressive past user, it's next to impossible to clean this account due to lot of connections. Again, this wasn't true in the part. I could follow/add folks and not worry about whose posts they like, however now, it's a mess. My linked in usage has gone down to maybe 30 mins a week now just cause most of my feed is irrelevant 🤷
I’ve been unfollowing people that seem to like all the crappy content.
@netskope exactly what I do most of the time I am On LI now. Pretty irritating tbh that Li decided to change their recommendation model kinda penalizing past users with larger networks..
are you the chief operating officer at LinkedIn looking for content to share this week?
We need to maintain “quality” of content in feed
No doesn’t matter, innovate something better (ex-twitter there is only as much as you can do to increase quality)
yeah that too, we are often seen as following FB
Stop pushing stupid notifications. I don’t care about how a random person who is not even in my network shares something.
