What companies are hiring Software Engineering Managers that can pay higher base salary?

I'm frustrated with my base salary and total compensation at Expedia. I hate working here. 212K TC, 177K base, 10 YOE, Seattle

Qualtrics will pay you more than that

I thought Expedia paid better

Expedia Group spybot Nov 15, 2023

Expedia does pay better at that level, but you have to earn it. Sorry OP, I don’t know you, so just sharing my observations. I’ve seen level Ms get paid that little, and they have always been very average performers. 200k+ base salary is a minimum for someone who is considered solid, way more if they exceed. If you feel you deserve more, have that chat with your manager. Ask for honest feedback. If you have, and aren’t getting anywhere, talk to the skip.

Stocks are a different ball game. Our stock awards suck, just like the stock price.

Credit Karma UepE53 Nov 15, 2023

We do, our manager base is higher than your TC.

Damn that’s hard to hear. As L5 SDE I make 300 Jump elsewhere you’ll 100% reach 400ish

Anyone from Expedia willing to help with a referral for a hybrid role in Miami?

Expedia Group Boo Yeah! Nov 18, 2023

OP - Are you a Manager or a Snr Manager? That TC is normal for the entry level manager, but Snr Managers generally make a lot more than that.

Expedia Group linjack Nov 18, 2023

Yeah, I think that base can be either high L(SDEIII) or low M(Sr SDE or Manager) band. I’ve seen stock refreshers also contribute a lot to TC. But depends on if youve been granted stocks year over year.

If you’re a manager (not senior) you won’t easily get hired other places. If you’re a senior manager, your TC is surprisingly low even for Expedia. Base above 200k is the norm
