This might be a dunning krueger effect type question but what do front end engineers do at places like Netflix? The UI probably needs very little change beyond adapting to API changes and new frameworks. Netflix has an especially simple looking front end too. It seems like they barely need any and even then would have little for them to do most of the time. #tech #Netflix #miscellaneous #misc #frontend
I find Netflix's UI to be the best of all streaming platforms.
The fact you think Netflix is so simple speaks to the effort they put into their UI/UX.
Tell me why no other streaming platform does fast forward/rewind as smoothly as Netflix if you think it’s so simple. Have you tried that in prime?
UI is very hard to do right. I've found front end work more challenging than backend work generally speaking.
lol. 1st sentence valid, second is bs. cmon man
Not BSing. There are established patterns on the backend and a plethora of cloud services make things a lot easier than they used to be. Clientside is very powerful these days and some of the more interesting problems I've worked on were grappling with state management and distributed micro frontend architecture.
Makes you wonder what do UI engineers at google.com have been doing for past 10 years.
They make some new garbage every year
It’s simple BECAUSE they have good front end engineers. Good UI doesn’t just happen.
Lol do you think all the front end enginnerrs work on the a single main product? Skim through their job listings. Actually any big company for that matter. There isn’t off the shelf tools for everything. Think production teams and everything involved, analytics, etc. Every big company has huge engineering teams that aren’t directly working on the public product.
This is such a bait shitpost
🍿 you're just trying to start some ish. 😀 simple is not equivalent to easy.
A wild guess: optimizing performance, capturing user interaction data. Also there’s a shit ton of different platforms to support and they all need to work flawlessly.
