Curious how folks interpret this, nobody seems to be talking about it https://about.fb.com/news/2021/09/research-teen-well-being-and-instagram/
Zuck’s not having it anymore, it’s time for offence.
Buy the dip
Imagine that. Instagram research says instagram doesn’t harm people. Next you’ll tell me the tobacco institute says smoking doesn’t cause cancers, Exxon researchers say solar power causes climate change, and Trump says he’ll make America grate again.
It’s the whistleblower’s word against Facebook’s at this point. Honestly, even if Facebook really is to blame here, what the whistleblower is proposing is many times worse. She wants the government to have a blanket approval to request data from any company at any time. Is this supposed to make things better?
Agree. It’s just one disgruntled analyst. Her opinion is valid but not particularly well informed. It doesn’t mean she’s wrong though. I’m fine w/ more regulation. In 1997 I thought the MSFT anti-trust case was crap. Political posturing and overreach. These days it’s clear everyone benefitted. Same thing is needed here.
pretty sure social media has helped during covid. It would've been madness to stay at home this long without it
100%
Not sure what the question is. This was also reflected in the presentations that were leaked. The media played a nice trick: found a quote that can be taken out context in one of the slides (knowing that no one will really check the research) and then used those same documents to build the credibility for the whistleblower despite the materials not supporting her claims...
