Market rate
I asked for 10k above the average listed on levels.fyi and Amazon gave it to me without negotiating. I probably left some money on the table. I’d recommend saying you don’t have enough info and you’d like them to make the first offer.
I was just honest with them, told them I wasn't sure what I should expect. Worked out pretty well.
This is probably the best strategy
Didn’t they ask your current salary?
I knew what I would take and asked for 30k more. Got what I wanted and then some.
^this. Anchor high
You say what you think you're worth and literally nobody can tell you that without knowing a lot about you and there isn't a magic spell that you can cast on the recruiter that will maximize what you get. For that you need skills which most of you don't have: negotiation, business and people.
I tell them to make the first move. Then ask for max(20% more than what I want, 30% more than their offer). Usually meet in the middle.
The way out is to tell them how much you make now and explain that an offer should make a sense financially.
Um this is the best way to get paid the minimum, yes.
You must be below the median on market
give a range munimum: the minimal number that would make you move maximum: something reasonable according to market statistics. if "maximum" less than "minimum" then set it to "minimum"
You should never give your minimum number that will make you move
