What do you think when a colleague drives a super expensive car?
When they show up in a bright green Lambo, convertible Ferrari, $200k 911 Turbo S, $350k retail Bentley SUV, and so on. Rest of the parking lot is $50k~$70k median Audis, leased Teslas, 20 year old paid-off Toyotas. Do you think they are overpaid and showing off? Also interested in opinions from those who set salaries and RSU awards of those people.

I mean you could probably buy a Lambo if you wanted on an Apple comp. You just wouldn't be as financially stable or have as great of a financial future.
This is true. But who wants to be 80 with tons of money? There’s pretty good classes on financial planning at work and my retirement plan is ahead of schedule.

I say “hey nice car”. People have different values and you never know someone’s finances unless they show you the number. I had a colleague who bought a Porsche…and he was sharing a condo with another colleague…it was a 1 bedroom and he was sleeping on the couch. The Porsche was the highest value item he owned. No, he was not otherwise wealthy.

I think wow very cool, nice car, I like that car! Unless they give me a reason to think so I assume they bought it because they like it not because they want me to feel bad

Yeah exactly. OP is searching for a way to judge. And most likely it’s not bc he gets paid way more than the rest of his colleagues.
Swing and a miss. I’m actually thinking about buying a very expensive car. The stock has been good, I’m a car person, and I have no other large purchases on the horizon.
