You disappear
Telling your HR you join Tesla or Lucid
You burn bridges. Not good for your career and also not good morally. You can do the bare minimum and hand off. If you want to disappear, you can also let your manager know. I have supported someone as a manager to disappear and get paid for 2 weeks.
Honestly, it might not really burn any bridges. A few people might continue to hold a grudge and bad mouth someone, but certainly not in a professional setting where there could be legal implications. This is really just something that probably doesn’t matter.
“Hold a grudge”, “bad mouth”. Hmm - how would it be badmouthing someone if they applied to some company you were at later and you told the truth about their exit?
Unless you have a very special work arrangement (you’d likely know if this was the case), if you give two weeks notice and then don’t show up to work out the two weeks very likely nothing will happen. Your coworkers and supervisor will probably be puzzled at why you opted to give two weeks rather than just not show back up. You may or may not get paid for the time. Some companies may just cut the check to cover their asses. Others will not and assume you’ll just disappear. Kind of gives one an existential shiver tbh.
Take a 2 week vacation first. Then comeback and give 2 weeks notice
Why give 2 week notice then? Just say you need to quit urgently for a personal family matter
I have a vesting a few days after that date.
OP not sure it will work. Atleast if you answer some slack messages, do a bit of handoff even a bad one should be fine. But if you disappear, they may most likely fire you immediately. But if you were to give a 2 week notice, then let’s say you take 3 days off, work 2 days, again take 2 days off, work 2 days, that might work. Or it may not. They may not like it and decide if you are anyway not present even for handoff, then why let you receive the stock vesting.
Prepare your hand over documents right now in a nice package for your manager. Give your resignation, with the handover package, and specifically mention you might have a conflict of interest. You will get thanked and walked out without burning bridges.
Probably mentioning joining lucid will do the job. They will escort me out.
You’ll likely be marked as unregrettable attrition because of job abandonment if you just ghost them for 2 weeks.
Why are u giving 2 weeks notice if u don't want to go. It's at will employment if u are not gonna work, just resign and leave next day.
You’ll have given a two week notice and left the company like everyone else who left it before you. Rivian will continue to sell vehicles and your contributions will eventually be forgotten. Same as everyone else.
I meant, I don’t want to go to the office or work during the two weeks. I just drop the notice and go.
Is there any legal obligations that I am expected to answer my emails or slack etc?
